A standard Australian Boston Bun
A Boston bun is a large spiced bun with a thick layer of coconut icing, popular in Australia and New Zealand. Traditionally, the bun also contained sieved potato.
The origin of the name is unknown,http://www.anu.edu.au/ANDC/pubs/ozwords/October_2004/FTCOct04.html but due to the strong trade ties between Australia and America, especially during the gold rushes of the 1850s, it is likely to be related to the city of Boston.http://www.anu.edu.au/ANDC/pubs/ozwords/October_2004/FTCOct04.htmlhttp://perth.usconsulate.gov/history.html
